Geeks On Site offers specialized services that include remote repair executed by their certified Geeks On Site technicians. Through a safe, secure connection, customers can watch as the Geeks On Site IT team run virus scans, perform updates, and clean up files.
Geeks On Site was one of the first computer repair companies to perform remote repairs. Company owner and President George Otte made an appearance on the local NBC news station as well as local newspapers and business journals. When Mr. Otte began remote repair he easily convinced his customers, and potential customers that is was a viable option; he gained many loyal customers who preferred this then innovative choice of remote repair.
Geeks On Site also has qualified, friendly technicians in virtually every state. Should a remote repair not be possible, a Geeks On Site tech travels the customer’s home or place of business after a thorough assessment of the customers’ pc, the technician then perform a variety of services, from replacing a hard drive to installing a new program and providing a tutorial so that the customer is well informed and the computer can be up and running properly.
Geeks On Site President George Otte also recognized the necessity of peripheral equipment repair, maintenance and learning sessions. Many customers call Geeks On Site initially for computer repair, but this sometimes involved their printer or scanner as well. Also, Mr. Otte knew from personal experience that his work often required the transfer of information from his blackberry to his pc, or he needed to download images from his digital camera to his laptop. So, when he began developing the hiring process for his Geeks On Site technicians he required them to be experienced in repairing or assisting a customer in the use of technical items other than their pc, Mac, or laptop.
Once the business was up and running, Mr. Otte had a great administrative team hiring technicians in dozens of locations coast to coast, and the company became multinational he found the time to make Geeks On Site about more than providing professional, quality computer repair and support. Mr. Otte also felt the need to champion environmental and charitable causes.
The Geeks On Site Smart Car was introduced in the autumn of 2009. It was the first major step Mr. Otte took in “going green”. Many of the Geeks On Site technicians spend a lot of time on the road, since technicians serve a broad base of rural customers as well as metropolitan based clients who live on opposite sides of the city. In order to decrease the amount of poisonous fumes in the air, Mr. Otte purchased a Smart “Four Two” model car. Smart’s Four Two model is the most compact vehicle available for sale in the U.S and gets an average of 31 to 41 miles per gallon, according an EPA 2009 report. The first Geeks On Site Smart car was sent to Columbus, Ohio. This will be quite a large project considering Geeks On Site has computer repair technicians in almost every state. The Smart car displays the Geeks On Site logo and mascot, doubling as a great advertising tool.
This is a win-win for us and the environment,” said Mr. Otte. “Technology is a rapidly changing industry; therefore we are familiar with watching the latest trends in our field, so we also apply this to researching new ways of being environmentally friendly.”
Geeks On Site wants their customers to breathe easier knowing the company’s interest in getting a Smart car on the road in every city they service. The use of the Smart car also offers customers the added security of knowing when they see a Smart car pull up in front of their home or office they have a qualified Geeks On Site technician. The greening of Geeks On Site is an on-going project, and one the company is really excited about.
Geeks On Site also has big plans for using their remote services to help local, non-profit agencies. The free computer “tune-ups,” they offer are performed via a secure remote connection and therefore can assist any organization anywhere in the country.
A full Geeks On Site tune-up includes adware and spyware removal, updates, virus protection verification, organization of temporary files, de-fragmentation of hard drive, startup optimization and virus scans. The benefit is this service leaves computers running faster and minimizes the amount of software problems that might otherwise be encountered in the future. Geeks On Site carefully assesses each application and only accepts legitimate charities in our program. We encourage small-size charities and community centers to apply. Applicants can send their letter of interest to: [email protected] with DONATION REQUEST in the subject line.
To give a historical run down, Geeks On Site started essentially as a local, five person operation in South Florida. However, Mr. Otte hit the ground running.
Geeks On Site initially made only onsite computer repairs. As Geeks On Site gathered momentum Mr. Otte expanded the service to remote computer repair as well. “Geeks On Site grew rapidly, in a short time the company evolved from assisting customers locally to taking care of customers all across the U.S. We are proud to say our new clients come mostly by referrals from current, satisfied customers,” said Mr. Otte.
Geeks On Site maintains a small business feel, despite the company’s exponential growth. While expansion of the company is happening all the time, Mr. Otte likes to keep things simple. “Keeping our customers satisfied is and will always be our focus. We provide high quality service at a reasonable price, so we have lots of happy customers to show for it,” Mr. Otte said. Geeks On Site Computer Repair will celebrate their eighth year anniversary this fall.
